The National Registry of Exonerations documents the case of Maceo “Troy” Streater, who was convicted in 1993 of murdering 19-year-old Terrance Gamble in New Haven, Connecticut, after a prosecution centered on eyewitness accounts that later unraveled. Streater’s first trial ended in a mistrial; a second jury convicted him, and he received a 35-year sentence

.Years later, witnesses submitted affidavits and statements saying they had testified falsely and describing police pressure. Although habeas petitions were denied, Streater was released from prison in December 2017 and ultimately received an absolute pardon on April 6, 2022.
